Bloody hell! 15 pounds difference? I feel your pain, Snack. Can you cancel your order or is it too late?

No, it's non-refundable once you get the pre-order package (the price you pay for being a GW addict I guess).

The special item for European preorders will be the Chimeric Prism, a focus item that grants different bonuses based upon the primary attribute of your character's first profession.

This sounds interesting!

15.00 GBP = 28.8507 USD. It's more than a half of the game. Of course, nobody will argue that Guild Wars is worth any reasonable price .
Congrats, Liquid.

Haha. I get the game two weeks late, I pay ten quid more for the privilege, and I get the Censor's Worthless Sodding Trinket, to boot. Hahahahahahahahahahagagaghagagurgle. That out of the way, it's nice us Europeans aren't actually being treated like damp arse. Our pre-order item just might be useful to non-Warriors/Rangers.

Honestly, I believe Arenanet should've done that prior. Nobody's a winner in this situation because imagine the number of cancellations US stores will now get.
At least you guys have a unique item.

If we were able to, we would have, believe me. It just wasn't possible until now.

We would never treat you like da... like that!
I think this is one of the most exciting bits of news we've put out. More Europeans in Guild Wars! Yaaay!!!

So, maybe this is a silly question, but I'm asking anyways.
I’ve been looking over the various pre-order items and frankly the Chimeric Prism seems the most tantalizing, if solely because it seems to be a more versatile item — being able to boost primary stats for any character type.
However, I'm in the US. Though, I have been contemplating preordering a European GW copy for the Prism (there is little difference in price it would appear). However, I'm a little unsure if this is a good idea. My biggest concern is on the network side of things... would a European edition connect solely to European servers, or even just to European master servers?
While I certainly wouldn't mind playing with all the great people on the other side of the pond, I do have local friends here in the US I'd like to play with, and I'd be concerned for what connecting to Europe might do to with my ping (assuming I have no choice given the nature of the box).
Are the actual games in the box identical between US and European? Does Guild Wars offer an ability to choose location or primary servers?
Thanks!

Now it's time for Guild Wars in Australia, haven't seen it anwhere apart from a few online stores that would be no doubt ordering it from overseas. Retailers don't know about this game

Soon... very very soon.
Also, keep in mind that, while it doesn't address the preorder situation, Guild Wars will be available as a download from the PlayNC website when the game is released. There are certainly multiple advantages to preordering, but you will have several options for getting the retail version.

Sounds great, thanks for replying, at least I know we are not completely left out. Just so very odd to walk into popular game retailers only to be greeted with a blank stare and "Umm it's not in our system" response. Download option may also be a viable alternative depending on the price
Thanks for the info

A deal to have Guild Wars retailed in Australia through EB Games has been confirmed now. I do not (yet) know the exact release date - at the latest, it will be the end of May however last I heard we were still pushing for it to be as close to April 28th as possible.
Those who buy from EB Games will be getting the European box with the Euro box contents; so everything will have the correct spelling .
Preorder and CE negotiations are still in progress.

If that's one of the reasons for Euro version in Au, than are the Canadian release also the European version?

Not much time left for preorder...
I'm glad I preordered mine through an online store that has imported it from somewhere. This way I get to play from the 27th However I'll probably end up with the Censor's Useless Thing, and a manual with American spelling

Nope, it's a fortunate side effect of the fact that NCsoft Europe are handling the Australian market for Guild Wars. Thus, we're providing the European english box.

We don't. I frequently spend years looking across the Pacific and wondering when I'm finally going to see things that have been out for a while in Japan. Heck, I don't think we see a 10th of the video games, movies, and stuff that gets released there...
